White Specks
White specks stuck to blue, red, black,
like chewing gum to the sole of your sneaker.
Relentlessly grabbing hold,
after having been torn apart.
Full of vengeance,
determined to make you pay.
White specks fluttering through the sky,
making their way to grey concrete.
They’re the color of snow,
but dissolve they do not.
Their remnants on the street below,
and in your wardrobe for weeks to come.
A painful reminder of how you, once again,
let a paper tissue slip into the laundry machine.
