There’s something beautiful about the rain,
washing away the dust, the pollen,
the things that made you itch and sneeze,
that covered you in a gritty layer.

There’s something beautiful about the rain.
How it gives you an excuse to stay in,
even though you don’t need one.
How it invites you to get cozy,
pull that blanket up to your chin and sink away into your sofa,
your thoughts,
a book.

There’s something beautiful about the rain.
because it’s temporary, it’ll pass,
and things will be different when the clouds are empty.
Maybe a bit muddy,
maybe a bit damp,
but with the prospect of sunshine all the more likely to come true.
