The Opposite
Have you ever said yes when you wanted to say no,
tried to plan each step,
instead of going with the flow,
focused on the bad,
when there was so much good,
created your own stories,
when really all you should
have done was hit pause,
take a step back,
look at the whole picture,
not just at the tinyy dot that could maybe be a crack.
Have you ever said stop,
when all you needed was a break,
and when that break was offered,
suddenly too much felt at stake.
Have you ever said no,
when you wanted to say yes,
pushed something away,
made a bit of a mess.
All because you felt the urge to make sure,
understand, manage, control,
that which in essence is uncertain,
that which only time can unroll.
And suddenly there’s a new meaning,
to “opposites attract.”
You really wanted to expand,
but what you did was contract.
What before was a strong hunch,
can no longer be denied.
This lesson so painfully learned,
now needs to be applied.
